One of my goals in 2025 is not only to get on the road more but to take more solo trips. I have a lot to do, so I might as well get started. My first trip this year is a quick one – I just took a couple days to drive down to Santa Fe, NM to finally see the Meow Wolf that started it all, House of Eternal Return.
Initially, I was planning on testing out a new car mattress, but with the overnight lows hovering around 20 degrees F, I figured I’d save that for another time. I’ve camped with temps at around 28-30 degrees F and was quite cozy, but this wasn’t the trip for that. Instead, I treated myself to a hotel room and enjoyed a nice, warm bath and evening to myself. Self care, you know?

Meow Wolf is at its core an art installation. I find myself always being very inspired by the artwork and this time was no different. This was, however, the first time I got to experience Meow Wolf at my own pace. With no one else along for the ride, that means I got fewer pictures of me but I got to really slow down and enjoy the experience.

I recommend entering through the house itself, but there are a bunch of different ways to enter. I liked how cohesive the experience felt, but there were still a variety of different art types and themes throughout. Above, you can see almost a street-vendor back alley atmosphere. Below, you can see just how magical the forest is.

As I travelled through, there were several interactive exhibits. Over on my Instagram reels, you can see where I was playing music with laser lights (probably my favorite exhibit). There was also a recreated mammoth skeleton you could play music on. But most of all, there was just really great art.

Overall, I had a great time and I highly recommend making your way to Meow Wolf Santa Fe. I didn’t work the mystery, but I did see clues to put it together. Next time I head to any of the Meow Wolf destinations, I think I’ll try my hand at it. I also like to dress the part, and I think I matched pretty well, don’t you think?
