Travel Goals – California

I’ve been to California before. Three times, actually. Not for very long and not for very far, but the San Diego area is lovely. I took a January dip in the Pacific (very cold as you’d expect, but absolutely necessary). I’ve seen whales and dolphins off the coast. Laguna beach was absolutely stunning. I’ve driven in the deserts near Joshua Tree National Park, though I didn’t actually go through the park. And I even went through a border patrol station (talk about nerve-wracking).

California is a giant state, though, and I didn’t even scratch the surface. There’s mountains, the ocean, the desert, multiple national parks. I definitely want to visit all of the national parks in California and I’m most excited about the northern part of the state. The redwoods and Yosemite sounds magical and I can see myself spending ample time there. That’s also to say that I can see myself spending ample time in California as a whole, even if just to bounce from beach to beach. Oceanic wildlife is something that I don’t have a lot of exposure to since I’m from a land-locked state, so that is just the icing on the cake!

I also really, really want to visit San Francisco. I’ve wanted to visit there for a long time because the culture that has been cultivated there sounds like something I need to experience. In the perfect world, I’d get to experience Pride in San Fran. It’s not in the itinerary as I should already be more north by June, but it is a bucket list item of mine. The painted ladies of San Francisco are also inspiring to my soul, so you can bet I’ll take a bus tour, if for no other reason than to say that I did.

There’s also of plenty haunted opportunities in California. The Winchester Mystery House and the Queen Mary, just to name a couple well-known haunts. Multiples groups of televised ghost hunters have been to each, and while mine won’t be televised, maybe I’ll be a believer when I’m through.

Knott’s Berry Farm is also something I’m dying to check out! Between the Try Guys and Watcher Entertainment, they have me so excited to try out all the berry flavored foods! I’m a berry girl and while I’m sure I won’t be able to tackle the entire menu, I have my eyes set on a few things. It’s obviously also a theme park, so I’m sure I’ll get some rides in, too. (But I mean…berries!!)

I didn’t go too in depth into the National Parks because there are a lot (see below). There’s a host of other places to explore that aren’t nationally recognized, though. I’ve seen some tide pools and I’ll definitely check some out again. I plan on finding an exploring a sea cave. And have you heard of Glass Beach? It looks simply breathtaking! I can’t imagine what it looks like in person, but I’m going to find out!

If you’d like to see more of what I want to do in California, check out my Pinterest board. Make sure to check out the other states, as well. What are some places I definitely need to go while I’m there? Places to eat? Tell me down below so I can add them to the list! And if you have a state you’d like me to explore, let me know!
