Its Not About Living In a Van

When you live in a house, much of your time at home is spent in the house. You make your meals in your house, you watch TV in your house, you go to the bathroom in your house, you clean your house, you spend time with pets in your house…and I could go on! But what if I told you that living in a van isn’t about living IN a van?

That’s right. When you live “in” a van, its not really about living “in” it so much as its about living “around” it. Sure, if you live in an RV, its basically just a tiny house. If you live in a skoolie, its also basically the same. After all, van living is really a specific type of tiny home living. But what about when you live in a van? A car?

Life is different when you can’t stand up in your living space. Your lifestyle changes to match and suddenly, your living space isn’t the confines of the 4 walls you call home. Instead of sitting on your couch watching a movie on your TV, you’re now sitting under the stars watching a movie projected on the side of your van. When its time for dinner, you can now enjoy the fresh air and the cool breeze while stoking your fire or prepping your ingredients. Need a nap? No problem! Listen to the sound of the birds and the river while napping in a hammock beneath the trees.

LuLu has approximately 40 square feet of living space. That’s small! But when you look at the larger picture that its primarily sleeping, storage, and transportation and the world is my living space it really changes the possibilities of what it means to be “home”. After all, feeling the breeze against your skin really does make you feel alive.
