John Martin Reservoir State Park – Hasty, Colorado

So early in the LuLu journey, we are keeping our trips and adventures close to home. John Martin Reservoir State Park (aka the “sapphire on the planes”) in Hasty, Colorado was one place I was so excited to go to I absolutely had to take the opportunity on our first 80 degree weekend.

The water is still very cold during Colorado spring because of the snow melt, so I didn’t take the kayak, but I did enjoy some sunshine with my niece and her boyfriend. I also got the chance to take some photos of LuLu with a scenic background (as opposed to the neighbors fence).

This is the exciting part for me. I could easily see myself just setting up house on the edge of the lake and just existing. We played washers and cornhole on the cliffside next to the reservoir and it would’ve been perfect to head back to the van and relax. We aren’t quite there yet, but dreams do come true!

Thanks for the beautiful day, John Martin Reservoir. See you next time! For more photos, see them as I post them here as well as on Instagram.
