Hard Choices

It’s about a year and a half into LuLu’s journey and I find myself at yet another fork in the road. With the onset of August, its time to decide if I’m going to head on my journey this fall/winter, or postpone until next spring.

I really, really don’t want to wait until spring! I have already pushed back my departure date so much, so thinking about planning on spring makes me feel so discouraged. The upside of waiting until spring, however, is the promise of mild weather leaving more choices for where I go. The downside is that I’ll either need to continue paying my rent for several more months or live hybrid in my mom’s house and in my van.

My other option is plan to leave this ASAP. This would give me freedom from paying rent and would free up money to work on the build, but I would be facing hybrid living until I could hit the road. My options would also be more limited and would keep me in the southern states to start.

All of this to say – I’m ready to get over this hump! I’m enjoying the interim, but the looming season changes is making me very nervous.

What are your thoughts on my possible choices? Stay the winter or head out as soon as I can? Stay in my house until LuLu’s ready or hybrid live to save money?
