What’s Next? A Bus Named LuLu Update

Happy Spring, everyone! I’m super thankful that the warmer weather (and more importantly, longer days) are here. Unfortunately, due to the mild winter we are in full drought mode, so hopefully we’ll get a wet spring.

With having about a month of my website down, I figured it would be good to give an update on where I’m at, what my next steps are, and possibly what the future holds.

As you know, if you’ve read THIS blog, I am currently knee deep in another project: working through renovating my childhood home so I can take up residence there. The next adventure – homesteading. I haven’t shared much of the process so far, but if you’re interested I’d love to be able to share!

As for LuLu, due to a few different happenings, I’ve had to take down the ceiling. That part’s done. Actually, through that process, I decided that for right now I’m going to stray away from my original ceiling plans. The wood ceiling is going back up and I’m moving to plan B for the front ceiling. It might end up being even cuter and more charming than my original plan to do a stock headliner. Basically, I’m going to work with foam and fabric to create an insert that sits in the gap rather than below it. I’m much more comfortable using both of those than I am using vinyl and metal rods. It’s going to bypass some issues I was having with the headliner (like the windshield) and give me even more customization than using a reproduction headliner. I’ll also be able to put back up the cedar ceiling sooner, which is great because I need curtains!

In regards to travel, I have the workings of a mini trip in progress for this spring. It’s going to give me a great opportunity to identify what I need to focus on as well as try out some gear I haven’t used yet. Hopefully, I’ll gain some confidence. I’m really lacking in that department right now (from her starting issues). Keep an eye out for that. Unfortunately, due to illness in the household and some financial constraints, it did get pushed back a little bit but I’m excited to embark, nonetheless!

As for this website, abusnamedLuLu.com – a lot of it’s future hinges on you, the reader and the community here. One thing you might’ve noticed is that I don’t have ads around my website, and that’s intentional. We all hate ads but often enough, thats where website revenue is actually coming from. My goal is to avoid that. I won’t make any promises because I can’t predict the future. But what I can say is that if I’m able to get enough monthly Patrons subscribed to my Patreon to offset the cost of my website, then I’ll continue as long as its feasible and makes sense. The coolest part? The more people I get over there, the cooler content I can support. I’d love nothing more than getting a pen pal out of the deal! So if you’re willing to trade $1 a month for some extra bits of content and maybe a freebie here or there, subscribe HERE. It means the world!

2026 has been off like a shot and I hope to make the best of it! Happy to have you here! See you on the road!
