First Day of Work[ing from Home]

My first day of working from home was not particularly exciting (and that’s probably for the best). I ended up having to wait an entire other month for my credentials for the hospital to be updated. What a month it was!

So far, I’ve really enjoyed interacting with my coworkers. The work is just what I was looking for, too. What I can say, though, is that my first day on the phones was such a relief to have finally arrived! Even if it was a little bit stressful, the relief to be able to just dive in was so much more than that. Of course, its me. I get frustrated when I don’t get to dive in completely head first, but I think it went pretty smoothly.

That was Friday. I’m writing this on Monday. Today went smoothly for me, too, even if we were shorter staffed than we normally would be. We are a small team of 4 amongst a larger conglomerate of teams. Having multiple people out can sometimes be difficult.

The great thing about this new position is that the skills are there, the technique just needs fine-tuned a little bit. It is a new EHR system, so that in particular is taking a decent amount of brain power to navigate. In my experience, any time you have to remember a new set of F-keys, it’s going to take awhile.

Still, I feel so happy and content! In my time between leaving my previous job and getting on the phone with patients at this job, I really did miss the patient care along the way. I can never know exactly what is going to be on the other end of the line, but its nice to be able to find some connection, however brief, with that person. If nothing else, it’s also allowing me to live the life I want to!
