Project LuLu – Did You Turn it On?

As anyone who has been following along knows, LuLu is a little stubborn. She usually only acts up for me, so it was frustrating when the day to finally get her rewired came and then promptly left (without new wiring, that is).

A friend has graciously offered to help me rewire LuLu. This means my first trip in LuLu is going to be to for that. We anticipate one to two weeks, during which I’ll be spending time in Northern Colorado. I have the wiring harness, the ignition switch and wiring, and the headlight switch so all we needed to do was get her to the rewiring destination and we’d be golden.

I made all the arrangements I needed to and I packed up all the things I’d need for the coming week(s). We topped off the oil and checked tire pressure. My friend made a joke about checking the antifreeze (and I fell for it). I said my goodbyes.

Then, LuLu wouldn’t start.

We tried getting her started with everything in our toolkit, sans rewiring her where she sat. Jumping her with the jumper box didn’t work either. We tried charging the battery with the my friends car (and jumping her). I did get the opportunity to ask if the voltmeter and the jumper box were on (they weren’t) and that lightened the mood a little bit. I guess the joke about the antifreeze must’ve been payback! Unfortunately, nothing worked and we weren’t planning to tow her long distance, so…

We had to reschedule.

Not only am I super duper bummed that the plans to get her rewired have been delayed, but that also means that my adventures are delayed, too! My nerves feel like they are starting to get the best of me. I just want the weather, and LuLu, to cooperate. Even if I can’t jump into full time van life right away, I’m ready to go!

As always, thanks for supporting me! If you haven’t seen, check out our 2023 sticker set here. Each contribution helps me get on the road!
