Welcome to the LuLu Community

Community. It’s something that I think all of us want in some regard. To that I say, welcome to the LuLu community!

A big driving factor to taking the leap is a search for a community that I felt I was lacking. My friends are spread far and wide, and for me, that makes it hard to feel a strong sense of belonging, which is something very important to me. Looking into the van life has taught me a couple of things, though. The first is that the van life community, while also spread far and wide, is a tight knit community. Two is something I’ve always known but it really cemented this journey as one I need to take. The Volkswagen community is a tight knit community, too.

Since I broke the news that I bought LuLu, I’ve felt more of a sense of belonging than I have in quite a long time. Person after person has told me that this is something they’ve always wanted to do. People have called me on the phone and told me about how excited they are for me. I’ve even had people who I haven’t seen in years (decades?) tell me they want me to come see them! So many friends have offered to help me with my build, too.

That’s you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. And while I’m doing this for me, I want you along on the journey, too. I want you to be part of my community.

I encourage you to follow along here. Find me on Instagram and follow along there. I might enter into the YouTube and TikTok world I’d love for you to join me there, too. The more support I get there, the more I can engage with you offline (and that’s something I really want to be able to do – more on that later).

How You Can Participate

If you want to support me in a more tangible way, I welcome support with my build and getting LuLu prepped for travel. I’ve had so much interest and offers that I thought this might be a good way to allow anyone near or far to participate.

If mechanics is your thing, I have a parts wishlist/registry over on Jbugs.com
For the more the more domestic folks, I have a living/travel gear registry at REI.com
If you’d like to buy some van decor gifts, you can check out Etsy
Or, if you prefer contributing in other ways, you can Venmo me @mishie1

Thank you all again! I can’t wait!
